If you can judge somewhere by its food, Edinburgh’s seaside resort is getting a little bohemian these days. Sun dried tomatoes and paninis can be enjoyed on the Esplanade, at tables decorated with flowers. But elsewhere, stovies and mince and tatties are still for sale and Portobello’s character remains largely “East Coast Scottish.” High up on an old building, a sundial shows local solar time. It has always been, and will always be, a very nice place to visit on a fine day.
